Your support will empower children to fulfill their dreams for an education, enhancing their opportunities for the future. Watch the video below to see for yourself.

Education in Kenya

Education in Kenya is very expensive. Students are responsible for admission and national exam fees, as well as uniforms, desks, and books. Because of these fees, many families unfortunately cannot afford to send their children to school. OEN provides full scholarships to selected students, alleviating the financial burden and stress for their families. Students are then able to attend and remain in school, giving both the students and their families hope for the future.

Nebraska to Nairobi

Nebraskan OEN co-founders Katie Claus and Julie Graham originally visited Kenya in 2018. While there, they met a Nairobian pastor named Oliver Ochieng. Katie and Julie were inspired by Oliver’s passion for helping youth and uplifting his community. Operation Education Nairobi was born soon after in 2019. The organization’s mission is rooted in the belief that every child deserves an education. The international OEN team has grown and works together to give children the opportunity for an education.

More than an education

Your donations and sponsorship result in much more than just increased school attendance. With continuous, local support provided by the Kenyan OEN team, the overall health and well-being of students improves. Their stress dramatically decreases as their family’s financial burden is lifted, and their academic performance therefore improves. Students feel a sense of purpose, stability, and safety at school and know they’ll receive at least one nutritious meal each day. OEN students also receive personalized mentorship from positive role models. Students have shared that they’re inspired and motivated, knowing someone across the world cares about and believes in them. Lives truly are changed in many ways through sponsorship.

Make a donation

Your donation goes directly toward educational scholarships that will dramatically change the life of a child. Absolutely no administrative expenses are taken from donations. These scholarships cover admission fees, books, uniforms, school lunch, and all additional requirements for enrolling and continuing students' education. It costs approximately $500 USD to fund the full three terms of a school year. While every dollar donated creates an opportunity for a child who otherwise wouldn't have one, recurring monthly donations are especially helpful in ensuring the continued support of current and future scholarship recipients. The children and their families are truly grateful to you. Thank you!

“I'm so thankful for Operation Education Nairobi because if it wasn't for them, my children would not have completed their secondary education.”
